My status on facebook last night read ” just saw history made with Healthcare reform passed.  I cannot wait to see President Obama sign it into law.  Now lets work on the job situation!  Amen Alleluia pass the ketchup! ”   One of my friends then pointed out do we really know what was passed since it has changed so many times before being voted for.  I find that to be an awesome question.  I myself only have a few clues as to what was in the bill.  I don’t know how it is going to be enforced or exactly what all was included or changed.  I think this was something that needed to happen now like everyone else I am waiting to find out what passed!  I do know a few things that I picked up on reading and I am going to post them below.

1.  It will extend coverage to 32 million more people

2. It will protect policyholders from being bounced for pre-existing conditions. (This one is the one I alway fear since I am HIV +)

3. It will expand Medicare prescription drug coverage.

4. It will offer subsidies to help people pay for insurance.

5.  Will cap out of pocket expenses.

6.  Will cover basic wellness exams like physicals.

(I know there is a lot more this is a quick run down of what I have gathered at the moment)

That is what I understand at the moment on this.  I am glad this has passed.  While it may not be perfect it is a good start to making sure that the citizens of our country have the health coverage they need.  I am really tired of the corporate greed that makes this country look so disgusting to others.  I figure once we everyone stops bitching and moaning and things are in place we will all look back on this in many years and go “I cannot imagine how we did it without this reforms”   Thank you President Obama for pushing this like you said you would.  Now lets get our jobs problem fixed and get Don’t Ask Don’t Tell repealed!
